The Red Lion : 12th March 2011

Once we arrived at The Red Lion we waited for all the guests to arrive and for the ghost hunting to begin, which was unfortunately a little later due to a miscommunication with the landlady. However once the karaoke finished, bad karaoke I may add, we started off the evening with a brief hello and introduction to the team followed by a talk and demonstration of the equipment we would be using.

Our medium Patrick Hutchinson then did a brief demonstration of mediumship, giving messages to guests from there past over loved ones.  This was then followed up by Patrick’s initial feelings off the place and anyone that he felt “belonged” to the pub. Patrick said that he had the feeling that the pub had been used as a brothel at some point, along with private fights for money. He also got the feeling of a baby being born there with a disfigurement and as a result was killed and put up the chimney! Patrick also picked up on a little boy being trampled to death by a horse and cart just outside of the pub as well as a fire that took place upstairs, which was then confirmed by a Red Lion employee.

After a quick break we split the group into three to carry out glass work and table tipping with our team members and medium. To begin with the group with Samantha seemed to be getting a lot of family members through, confirming their identity via questioning and then giving messages to loved ones. At this point an entity from the pub came to the table and took a strong dislike to John, a male customer. Through questioning it was revealed that this entity was named Bob and lived around 1425, he was drowned in a lake by his friend Harold during a drunk fight over a woman.

Patrick’s group started off by talking to a little girl on the glass who said she was the daughter of an old landlord and at this point a woman was spiritually attacked and collapsed! After some energy transfer from Patrick she was fine though.
Bernice’s group made contact (via glasswork) with a rather negative entity who called himself Ivan.

Throughout the night we switched groups and locations around making sure that everyone had been everywhere and had a session with Patrick. At one point, a group were in the cellar and there was a lot of tapping and banging. Patrick believes that someone was taken there presumed dead but was not and an autopsy was started on them whilst still alive. There was a lot of glass movement, shadows and lights saw down in the cellar and at one point a female customer said something rude to the entity which resulted in her legs being frozen and having to be carried out!

When another group went down into the same cellar we made contact on the ouija board with a little girl named Poppy who said she had died in a fire that took place on the top floor (confirmed by Red lion worker Collette) and she said that she liked to play on the landing (were footsteps have been heard). We then made contact on the board with a man in the cellar who said he was Poppy’s father and that he was murdered there. A few ladies felt cold air being blown onto their necks and several were pushed and made to feel ill. At this point a lot of table tipping occurred. We also made contact (via glasswork) with this negative entity Ivan. It was later revealed, via the communication with the entity down in the cellar, that Ivan had killed Poppy’s father. When we called for Ivan to come down into the cellar to communicate with us, we all heard footsteps. Then both at the same time, trainee medium Jason Hutchinson and a male customer both said they had very bad pains in their neck. Jason then said he had the feeling that this Ivan entity had been hung, which was then confirmed on the table.

After more table tipping and séances, we drew the night to a close and held a question and answer session before saying goodbye to everyone. The night was very enjoyable with a lot of spooky things happening and everyone at Ghost Gang Hauntings would like to thank the staff at The Red Lion for allowing us there and to all the customers on the night! Hope you all had a good night!
